Umberto Malesci

Umberto Malesci is Vice-Chairman of  Carrick Bend, a group focused on Homeland Security-related solutions and technologies. Carrick Bend is the parent company of Fluidmesh Networks, a technology company that manufactures wireless products, AvrioRMS, a leading system integrator for city-wide wireless video-surveillance systems,
and Pantascene, a Chicago-based software company that develops solutions to provide real-time situational awareness to government agencies responsible for emergency management.

Umberto obtained a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. He started his professional career working as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in Milan, Italy. He also worked as researcher at MIT CSAIL in Cambridge (USA) where he studied innovative routing and MAC protocols to deploy large-scale sensor networks for environmental monitoring.

Umberto started Fluidmesh Networks in early 2005. In early 2011 the company merged with AvrioRMS creating Carrick Bend. The merger is backed by two leading Chicago-based private equity firms, Generation 3 Capital and Waveland Investments. Umberto currently maintains overall responsibility on the group strategic direction and on the worldwide
operations of  Fluidmesh Network,  AvrioRMS and Pantascene.
